When the game first launched I spent ages searching for tips which were going to help me through the game, until the penny dropped I realised it’s literally down to your play style. For example if you’re playing as a stealth character, a sprinty character or big jock slugger type, your survival is going to be absolutely key but completely different to how you achieve it.

In light of this, I can only really speak for myself… and I tend to play more stealthy. So here it goes!

5 – Don’t sprint!
The temptation to sprint house to house can be overwhelming, but actually most of the time you’re probably best chilling outside and managing your composure accordingly. Sprinting house to house and running around inside checking compartments for useful gear is just going to attract Jason. He’ll see you, come for you and once you’re in his sights, it’s hard to get away.
I play as AJ and her stealth is great, so of course I use it to my advantage. Let him hear everybody else. Slow and steady wins the race.

4 – Escape via the boat!
For me, escaping via the boat is by far the best method. It only requires a propeller and gas. Once you’ve got this, you can escape with one other person via the dedicated exit point on the map. I’m not saying this is easy, as just one propeller randomly dotted on the map (but usually near the boat itself) can be hard to find. But if you and a friend are covering houses together, you can get search large areas quite quickly.
Of course some variations of Jason are much better in water, which can be a negative but it’s easier than searching for gas, keys and a battery for a car OR a one fuse to call the police (which takes 5 minutes for them to show up once called anyway).
Other ways of escaping are cool for sure… but for me, boat should be priority.

3 – Work as a team. Don’t split up!
I work alongside my partner in crime JohnnyTrickshot who also tends to steer towards stealthy characters and we definitely find it much easier to work house to house together, covering large areas more quickly. Not only this, but you’ll often find stuff to combat Jason. Pocket knives for example are an automatic get out of jail free card if Jason grasps you, giving you and your partner a small window to escape whilst he’s stunned. We’ve often found that if one of us has a pocket knife, that person will intentionally get caught, so we can auto-knife stun and get away. It’s a good asset to have. Very much to same with the flair gun and shotgun, which will also stun him for a small period. So yeah… don’t be that douche who just sprint solos. It never works!

2 – Don’t panic and manage stamina!
Okay so this is the worst piece of advice I can offer. How can you not panic with a 8 foot Jason bearing down on you with iconic music screeching in your ears? If you do however stop and analyse the situation, you can really out smart players playing as Jason and use n00bs as cannon fodder.
For example, if the police are called. Slowly make your way to one of the two exits keeping your stamina at healthy level. Wait patiently in a house nearby for them to arrive. Usually other players on the map and sprinting to the exits and getting themselves chased down and killed, whilst you are sneaking not making a sound, ready for one final sprint when the police arrive. With a full set of stamina, you should be able to evade him in one final push.

1 – Perk up!
Out of all the camp counsellors you can choose from, stats will never change. All stats are set and allow you to pick and choose for your specific play style. What allows you to stand out from the rest are the perks. You can roll perks using CP currency attained from playing matches. It costs 500 CP to roll and perk and it’ll be rolled randomly, which additional randomly generated positive and negative effects.

For example, my current load out is Firecracker (start with a firecracker used to stun Jason), Level Headed (Chance to avoid detection during Jason’s sense ability) and Night Owl (giving a reduction to fear penalties in darkness).

So you can see I’ve chosen a load out to match my play style, staying under the radar and a avoiding making new and being detected. This has taken a lot of rolling and used up a lot of CP and I still think I can probably do better.

Anyway, they’re my top 5 tips to surviving as a stealth character. I hope they help you in your quest to escape the grasps of Jason and let me know if you have any tips for me. I’d love to hear them.

Don’t forget, it’s Double XP weekend this weekend, as well as 13k free CP to all players. I’ll be streaming myself spending all 13k at some point, so be sure to tune into a my Mixer channel for that and don’t worry if you miss it, we’ll have it up on the Bearded Robot YouTube channel by the end of the weekend too.
