After last night’s fantastic start to the new season of Game of Thrones, there were a few questions left unanswered and possibly the biggest one being, what will Euron Greyjoy’s gift to Cercei be?

We need to remember that Euron is on the back foot here. His original plan was to return home after being in exile for many years, kill his brother and Lord of the Iron Islands Balon Greyjoy and then take over the iron born. He got pretty far but didn’t realise he’d have such strong competition in his niece and nephews Yara and Theon. After he is elected by part of the iron born Yara and Theon essenially steel his idea and go running the Dany, so he needs a new plan. And that plan is Cercei. However Cercei won’t be swayed so easy so in episode 1 of Season 7, Euron promises her a gift before she’ll accept his proposal. But what could it be?

Let’s run through some options…

Sansa Stark

With Sansa in custody of the Lannisters, I’m sure Cercei would love nothing more than to torture Sansa for the rest of her life. After all, accordingly to Cercei it was Sansa who killed her beloved Joffrey in season 4 with the help of her husband Tyrion. Of course we know this wasn’t the case and it was actually a Littlefinger and Tyrell plot.

So Sansa feels like an obvious answer… but what would that actually gain? Cercei has more on her plate than simple revenge for her son’s murder. As she mentions in epsiode 1, she has enemies to the North, East, South and West.

Also how would Euron even get hold of Sansa? She’s back at Winterfell, one of the most resilient fortresses in Westeros and the whole of the North now her brother John Snow.

Greyjoy’s may be kings of the sea but they lack massively when it comes to on foot combat.

Tyrion Lannister

Now this is a gift Cercei would drop everything for. Cercei’s hate for Tyrion goes beyond words, ever since he was born and their mother died in child birth. She hates him with all her passion and we see from her chapters in the books that she clearly has this perception of him which is completely wrong. In a way it’s not her fault, as she can only see what her warped and crazy mind tells her.

Again though, is Euron going to be able to take the Queen in the East’s Hand and bring him back to Cercei? Euron is the greatest sea captain in the world, so he claims and Dany was travelling by ship; but she’s touched down now on Dragonstone, so again very unlikely unless he has a very clever plot planned.

Gendry Baratheon

Okay let’s get into it. This is who I think will be Cercei’s gift from Euron. Gendry is the last surviving bastard of King Robert. If you can remember back to the earlier seasons, once Cercei found out that Ned knew her secret, she had all King Robert’s bastards killed. From babies to toddlers, but there was one she missed. Gendry. Ned was clever to ensure Gendry went off to the Night’s Watch in Season 1, where he met Arya in Season 2… but Gendry never made it to the Watch, once Cercei’s guards caught up with their convoy and killed most of those travelling with him. He managed to get away with Arya and Hotpie and for a time stays with the Brotherhood without Banners before being turned over to Melisandre and Stannis.

Melisandre knew he had King’s blood in him and uses leeches to have Joffrey, Robb, and Balon killed (so she’ll have us believe) and it’s hard to argue against her. Her “predictions” did come true after all. Coincidence?

Anyway, after Gendry is released by Davos in Season 3, we never see him again. But could Euron have found him? With Gendry in Cercei’s custody she would hold so much power. He is a bastard sure, but this doesn’t mean he couldn’t have a claim to the iron throne and if he does, the man who sits the throne tends to get the backing of Westeros generally speaking. Cercei is smart enough to manipulate the situation, to rally Baratheon bannermen and to go into battle with Dany, with a proper army.

So there you have it, my thoughts are Gendry, but what do you think? Let us know in the comments!
